About Budapest Lets and our Accommodation Services

Budapest Lets was established in 2005 and is a Hungarian registered limited partnership ('bt.', betéti társaság), made up of partners from Budapest and the UK. As property owners our aim is to offer our customers the best accommodation possible in short term and long term rental apartments, so whether you're travelling to Budapest for pleasure or business, our goal is to be able to provide you with a superior service together with quality accommodation that matches (and hopefully exceeds) your needs.

With our registered office in central Budapest, we have our own in-house team of multi-lingual managers, meet-greeters, cleaners, maintenance and even have our own pool of trusted and professional drivers for transportation between the apartments and Budapest Airport, the train stations or ferry/hydrofoil terminals (please note the transportation service is an optional extra and is not inclusive in our rates).

Together, we have a vast array of experience in property rentals, management and development, travel, tourism, tenant relations and customer service. And with our varied business and work backgrounds our own travel experiences have taught us what people need and want in their accommodation when they're travelling away from home. With partners and employees living in and native to Hungary and Budapest, most of whom are multi-lingual, speaking at least Hungarian (Magyar) and English, our guests are assured of experienced, knowledgable, friendly and useful local information, advice and assistance.

Operating 365 days a year we want to make sure your holiday/stay in Budapest is as enjoyable and hassle-free as possible, and that we provide you with the highest standard of service.

Our Budapest Accommodation

Our quality apartments, flats and studios are all privately owned and are mostly situated in central Pest with a limited number on the Buda side of the River Danube (Duna). Much of our accommodation consists of traditional and baroque apartments superbly located in beautiful Hapsburg Empire and later Art Deco style buildings, and have been developed, renovated and refurbished to the high standards required by our customers.

Other private individuals (local and international) also advertise their properties through our website and we manage their properties for them. However, only select properties that match our standards will be allowed on the website and by taking on the management of those properties we are able to make sure they remain at the high standard demanded by Budapest Lets' guests.

Whether you're in Budapest on a family holiday, vacation, weekend break, studying, on secondment with your company, enjoying one of the many festivals, Grand Prix, touring, or just passing through Hungary, we're sure you will find accommodation in our portfolio to match your needs, either by browsing our entire Portfolio of Apartments or by using the search panel (above right).

All of our accommodation is self catering and all the essentials are provided, giving our guests the peace of mind and freedom to explore and experience the beautiful and historic city of Budapest and the surrounding areas of Hungary, using the centrally located apartments as the ideal bases from which to do so.

Short term lettings are available to reserve online and start from as little as 2 nights to 30 nights, with extra free nights for every 10 nights booked, and long term rentals are from 1 month to 12 months. Special Offers and discount rates apply for long term, special occasion, Winter (Low Season) and corporate rentals.

Using the search panel (above right) you can check live availability and immediately reserve short term apartments (upto 30 nights) online, or contact us to enquire about pricing and any special offers on long term rentals of more than 30 nights (or in some cases discounts are available on some short term apartments of more than 14 nights).

Budapest

Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is blossoming and full of things to do and see. A lively, friendly and exciting city, rich in history and cultural achievement, Budapest has more than two million inhabitants. Just walking through the city centre is interesting in itself. The city's theatres, cinemas, cafés, festivals, sports events, and lively nightspots make it one of Europe's most attractive destinations. Most galleries, museums and concerts are also reasonably priced and easy to find.

Visitors interested in international politics, economics or culture will find Budapest a stimulating place in which to live and study as they observe social and economic change as it unfolds.

Budapest has much to offer: six impressive bridges spanning the River Danube (Duna) in the heart of the city, an imposing Royal Castle perched on Buda Hill, a neo-Gothic Parliament whose architectural beauty is unique, Turkish baths, thermal springs, Roman ruins and many historical monuments, churches, museums, and squares.

Present-day Budapest was created in 1873 from the separate towns of Buda, Pest and Obuda.

The Danube, flowing through the heart of Budapest, divides its two principal areas, historical Buda on the western bank and the city's commercial, political and cultural district, Pest on the eastern bank.

The National Museum, the city's oldest and most famous baths at the Gellért Hotel, and the boutiques and cobbled promenade of Váci utca are all located near to each other.

One of Budapest's key attractions is the city buildings and their varied architecture and styles. Other things to do in Budapest range from sampling the delicious Hungarian cuisine, making the most of the vast and varied shopping on hand, visiting the Christmas fair and market, taking a walk or boat trip along the Danube, visiting the many museums, parks and fairground, relaxing in the famous spas and bath-houses, or experiencing the lively night-life.

Our fully equipped self catering facilities allow guests the flexibility of choosing between dining in the apartments or dining out in the excellent local restaurants and cafes.

Hungary

Why not venture further afield, making use of the public transport, or car hire, to visit the countryside, wine houses in the Eger-Tokaj Hilly Wine Region, or the Zoo. Further Tourist Information, maps, things to do and event listings for Budapest and surrounding areas of Hungary can be found at Hungary Tourism, and also at the Hungary Tourism Board website.

Travel within Budapest and throughout Hungary is very convenient, easy and inexpensive using the great public transportation system of extensive tram, metro, bus and train networks. From Budapest, you can also easily reach other cities such as Vienna, Prague, Krakow and Warsaw. Travel within Budapest and Hungary is made even easier with the Budapest and Hungary Cards, which can be purchased online or from Tourist Information Centres (located near Oktogon on Liszt Ferenc ter, Nyugati Station, Buda Castle on Szentháromság tér, and Deák Square on Sütó utca).

Most apartments will contain current information booklets and leaflets to help you find your way around and organise your time. The Budapest and Hungary Cards also come with information booklets full of ideas and offer fantastic savings and discounts, and of course the Tourist Information Centres (listed above) are crammed full of information on attractions and things to do.

Wikipedia's free online encyclopedia contains a wealth of information on Budapest and Hungarian culture, economics, history, demographics and general information.

For the Sports Fans

Looking for somewhere to stay during the Hungarian Formula One (F1) Grand Prix (usually in late July or early August)? Then look no further... though you'll have to book early as our apartments tend to fill up fast around this time...

Book your accommodation with us then go to Formula One Info for your official Grand Prix tickets.

Also check out the Official Formula 1™ website for dates and race times.

For an insider tip that only readers of this page will be aware of... we cannot set the premium rates on the apartments for the Grand Prix until the dates are issued and confirmed by the FIA each year. Until that point, the apartments will be bookable at their standard rates. If you're quick enough to book and pay for your Grand Prix accommodation online before the dates on our site are updated you'll score for some great discounts.

We recommend all sports fans pay a visit to Box Utca, a sports bar, restaurant and cafe situated across the street from the St. Stephen Basilica. They have 16 large screen TV's, tuned in to different cable TV sports events around the world, including Champions League and European Championship football games. Amongst the various displays of sporting memorabilia is David Coulthard's Formula One race-car.

For all Music Lovers

Hungary has a rich musical culture and Hungarians are reknowned for their love of music.

Budapest is host to a vast array of musical events, from traditional folk musical festivals, to classical music, opera, and rock, with regular performances from local and internationally reknowned performers.

Another very popular and busy time for our accommodation rentals is during the Sziget (Island) Festival which usually starts around the first week of August and lasts for 7 days, with a mind-boggling array of acts and performances across numerous genres and stages. Being one of the largest festivals in the world, it takes place on Óbudai-sziget ("Old-Buda Island"), a man-made island on the Danube next to Margit sziget (Margaret Island), and attracts visitors from all parts of Europe and further (according to Wikipedia the number of visitors to the Sziget Festival in 2008 is estimated to be around 385,000).

We always book up very fast for the Sziget Festival, so you will need to be quick off the mark and book your Festival accommodation online early.

Also, check out Showtime Budapest (The Concert Company) for local and international events, concerts and tour dates. For online ticket availability and sales for Music, Stage, Sport, Family and various other events in Hungary go direct to www.tex.hu
